The U.S. Constitution was originally adopted in the convention of September 17, 1787. It was thereafter ratified by the states and amended 27 times. It is the legal foundation made up of our nations cherished first principles from which all decisions by our courts including the Supreme Court are based. It is also the legal premise from which our individual rights are given the force of law. To fully appreciate the importance of these individual right we must understand that part of our Constitution that is known as the Bill of Rights.
