The Truth About Our Economy

As our economy goes deeper into debt and our financial and political systems continue to weaken, we are now witnessing the exposed corruption and greed of the few over the general welfare and rights of the many. This article examines the truth behind our economy and what we must know if we are to bring about change in our world.

Another illusion is that greed is good and unbridled competition is the way to national prosperity. The near collapse of our economic and banking systems and the obliteration of the American middle class demonstrate just the opposite. This type of destruction shows that greed breeds more greed, and when greed goes unchecked it is capable of bankrupting a once prosperous nation.

When it comes to the politics of economics, our nation is more polarized now than ever before in our history. The thoughtless allegiance to an unrestricted multinational corporate economy has produced massive injustice among our nation’s economic classes.

When we awaken to the truth about our economy, we will realize that we have been manipulated by the few. The truth is, about four hundred individuals control over 50 percent of our nation’s wealth, and over 95 percent of Americans don’t even know it.

By controlling Wall Street, this tiny group is able to control the economic and political nervous system of our entire nation. By controlling the wealth, they also control the daily messages we hear on television and throughout much of the mainstream media. The truth is that the political representatives who make our laws, regulate our economy, and enter our wars are bought by these same interests and those that benefit from them.

On March 5, 2011, documentary filmmaker Michael Moore gave a moving speech at a political rally in support of American workers to freely negotiate a fair day’s pay. He said, in part,

America is not broke. Contrary to what those in power would like you to believe so that you’ll give up your pension, cut your wages, and settle for the life your great grandparents had, America is not broke. Not by a long shot. The country is awash in wealth and cash. It’s just that it’s not in your hands. It has been transferred, in the greatest heist in history, from the workers and consumers to the banks and the portfolios of the ultra rich…

These 400 obscenely rich people, most of whom benefited in some way from the multi trillion dollar taxpayer “bailout” of 2008, now have more loot, stock, and property than the assets of 155 million Americans combined. If you can’t bring yourself to call that a financial coup d’état, then you are simply not being honest about what you know in your heart to be true…

America ain’t broke! The only thing that’s broke is the moral compass of the rulers. And we aim to fix that compass and steer the ship ourselves from now on. Never forget, as long as that Constitution of ours still stands, it’s one person, one vote, and it’s the thing the rich hate most about America—because even though they seem to hold all the money and all the cards, they begrudgingly know this one unshakable basic fact: There are more of us than there are of them!
