Manufacturers concealed the severity of the dangers posed by asbestos for many years. Notwithstanding the fact that there have been viable and safe alternatives to asbestos for use in industry, companies continued to manufacture and utilize this deadly product until the government finally stepped in. In the meantime, most companies involved in the manufacture and use of asbestos products ignored the risks and dangers to the their customers and employees and to the general public, failed to take corrective measures and even failed to warn about the dangers of exposure to asbestos. Court trial of asbestos cases have revealed the sad reality that many companies fraudulently concealed the truth about the dangers of asbestos. The victims of this concealment were mostly laborers who, unaware of the risks, remained exposed to asbestos for years.
