Immigration Sponsors
U.S. citizens wanting to travel abroad must first obtain a passport from one of the approximately 9000 passport receiving offices across the nation. Each official U.S. passport contains the legal identity and photograph of the bearer including the date and the person’s place of birth and national origin.
While the passport must remain in the personal possession of the bearer, technically it is considered the legal property of the issuing government and can be revoked by the government at any time for cause.
Purpose Of Passport Services
Currently the United States issues over 18 million official passports a year. The primary purpose of passports is to authenticate the national and individual identity of citizens who are traveling internationally. The secondary purpose is to request that all foreign nations allow the bearer of the passport to freely pass without obstruction or delay and further request that in the event of need or emergency, the bearer of the passport be granted assistance by the host nation.
Passport services are administered from both regional offices and designated passport application locations such as federal district courts, state courts, post offices, public libraries, and municipal and county offices. First time passport applicants can make their application for international travel at any one of there many public locations across the country.

Expedited Passport Services – Private Passport Services
U.S. passport expediting companies are private passport services that have been registered through the U.S. Department of State’s National Hand Courier Program to submit passport applications to the Regional Passport Agencies on the behalf of citizens. Private passport service providers have enjoyed an excellent reputation for both customer service and operational efficiency.
For individuals that are traveling sooner than fourteen days (the customary passport processing time) and are unable to timely submit their passport application in person at one of the official passport offices Passport Agencies, passport-expediting companies may provide assistance for a price.
Regional Passport Services Include Issuance Of Passport Cards – Limited Use
Other then offering the traditional booklet passports, the US Government in July 2008 began to issue wallet-sized travel passport cards as an alternative to the larger booklet format most of us are familiar with. Passport cards are less expensive, smaller, and easier to manage for most travelers. We recommend however that you obtain the standard booklet form because it has a much wider use and scope for international travel.
Specifically, passport cards can only be used for purposes of re-entering the United States from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean. While the passport cards conform to all necessary government requirements, citizens are still prohibited from using passport cards for more general international air travel. This may change however as technology advances and international travel increases throughout more countries.
