Wrongful Termination

There is almost nothing worse than getting fired from a job. If you've been "wrongfully" fired, you might consider suing your employer.

Some employees have long-term contracts that prevent employers from firing them whenever they like, but most employees are "at-will" employees, who can be terminated for no reason at all. Even at-will employees, however, have some legal protections.

A firing might be "wrongful" because a contract (your own contract or your union's contract with the employer) prevented your employer from firing you, because the firing was illegal discrimination (if you were fired due to race or disability, for example), because it was in retaliation for your exercise of your legal rights, or because state law prohibits firing for some other reason.
