The choices are endless. Lotions, potions and so much more! Are you ready to be your own boss? Do you have the self-discipline to set your own hours? Ready to determine your income and rewards? All this and so much more await you when you become an Independent Consultant for a great company.
Do your research. If you hear “The product sells itself” think twice. Nothing sells itself! Well, maybe aspirin and diapers. Even with those items the product brand needs to be put out there. If a representative of any product pressures you, step back; never join a company at a presentation. You can get caught up in the moment and regret your decision. Make an appointment with the Consultant to hear more about the company. Give yourself time and ask allot of questions. Take your time and research the company. Go online and find out as much as possible. Look into the compensation, competition and speak with other representatives.
Love your product. I think that is one of the most important favors you can do for yourself in choosing to market a product from home. Find something you truly like and will use yourself and would be happy to recommend to relatives, friends and strangers. Knowing you chose the best will help you start your business with confidence. If you don't like the Party Plan business be sure to see if there are other options with the company you choose.
There are companies that now allow business to business. This usually means that you can have a small business owner sell your product in their shop. Some companies allow you to use your teaching skills and sell your product by offering workshops. I have the pleasure to say that I have started my home-based business. (For example) The company I chose includes my own website, a small yearly fee ($49.95) covers my complete virtual office on the web. Many companies offer websites when you sell a product—just be sure and read all fine print, some can be costly. I found the $49.95 yearly fee to be a reasonable.
My company set me up with many training options. Many people are web savvy—but—if you are more of a book person make sure you have other training options available to you. Look into your costs for sales supplies/products, brochures and such. If your company is always changing sales supplies/products and not allowing you to use up your old product that would send up a red flag to me. This can become costly for a Consultant. There are many responsible companies out there to work with but you need to ask lots of questions.
