What is the National Association for Children of Alcoholics?

Addiction & Recovery Sponsors

The mission of this organization is to "advocate for all children and families affected by alcoholism and other drug dependencies. In a word, we help kids hurt by parental alcohol and drug use."

Research has demonstrated that alcoholism tends to run in families. When children are exposed to an environment that is saturated with alcoholism, their chances of abusing alcohol themselves increases four times.

There is also a strong link between alcoholism and child abuse. With more than one million kids falling victim to child abuse each year, state welfare records have shown that alcoholism is most likely to be involved.

By creating a public awareness, The National Association for Children of Alcoholics strives to advocate the children affected by alcoholism while providing educational videos and other helpful resources.

If you or someone you know is a child of an alcoholic, please contact the Nation Association for Children of Alcoholics.
